Kamaka are a 100 year old Hawaiian ukulele brand based in Honolulu, Hawaii. Kamaka is a family business with second and third generation luthiers crafting their beautiful ukuleles. Kamaka was started by Samuel Kaialiilii Kamaka back in 1916. Samuel was the creator of the first ever pineapple ukulele some time in the mid 1920s.
Today Kamaka is continued by Chris Kamaka and Fred Kamaka Jr. Their ukes still bear the famous double k logo.
As a brand Kamaka ukuleles are known for their quality. The Kamaka range of ukulele features 9 different models all of which are made from Hawaiian Koa wood. Prices start at around $1,000 for a standard soprano rising to just over $2,000 for a deluxe model. If you hadn’t already guessed, Kamaka are one of the most respected ukulele brands in the world.
