The main riff from Blink-182’s 1997 hit Dammit is a great little riff to play on ukulele. Here’s how you play it…
The Tab
The tab is pretty straightforward – there are only six notes in the whole riff. The problem comes from the tempo. Dammit rips it up at a whopping 215 beats per minute. It goes without saying that you’re going to need to start this one slowly.
Playing Tips
It can be a bit tricky playing this one at full speed, the A in the 4th bar can cause a few problems. So far, and I haven’t quite perfected this one at speed (hence the lack of audio) I tend to start with my index finger barring the E and A strings at the 3rd fret then stretching up to the 5th and 7th frets with my 3rd and 4th finger. That should see you through bars 1 and 2.
For the 3rd and 4th bars I then drop my 3rd finger flat onto the 5th fret barring the C, E and A strings. It works in terms of fretting the notes with minimal finger movement but it’s hard to silence the A note in the 4th bar as you lift your 3rd finger back off to repeat the riff.
Good luck and enjoy
